Overview: A masterclass in compact luxury, Project 24 presents a triptych of culinary environments within a single residential landmark in Bashundhara R/A. Spanning three identical 150 sq. ft. footprints, these kitchens redefine the "heart of the home" as high-performance laboratories where sleek minimalism meets the rigorous demands of modern Bengali gastronomy.
Design Vision: The "Monolith Series" — the vision was to create a seamless, handle-less aesthetic that expands the perception of space. By utilizing a monochromatic palette and reflective surfaces, the design transforms a utilitarian 150 sq. ft. area into a voluminous, light-filled sanctuary. The aesthetic is "Techno-Organic," balancing clinical precision with warm, integrated illumination.
Challenges & Solutions:
Challenge: Maximizing utility in a constrained 150 sq. ft. rectangular footprint without creating visual clutter.
Solution: A floor-to-ceiling cabinetry system that utilizes vertical space for deep storage, paired with an integrated "Appliance Garage" to keep countertops clear, maintaining a continuous, unbroken horizon line.
Material Palette:
Cabinetry: Anti-fingerprint matte acrylic in Charcoal and Pearl Grey, offering a velvet-touch finish.
Countertops: Seamless Arctic White engineered quartz, chosen for its non-porous durability and light-reflecting properties.
Backsplash: Single-slab lacquered glass that eliminates grout lines, creating a mirror-like depth.
Hardware: Brushed aluminum G-profile handles and soft-close tandem boxes for a silent, tactile experience.
Lighting: Recessed COB spotlights paired with motion-sensor LED strips tucked under the overhead cabinets.
Custom Features:
The Ergonomic Triangle: Precision-mapped workflow between the built-in hob, sink, and refrigeration units to minimize movement.
Smart Corner Solutions: S-shaped pull-out carousels that reclaim "dead space" in corner cabinets.
Integrated Ventilation: High-suction, low-noise chimney hoods concealed within custom-built cabinetry shells.
Hidden Utility Hub: A dedicated zone for heavy-duty appliances (blenders, grinders) with pop-up power docks.
Client Collaboration: Designed for a multi-generational family occupying different floors of the same building, the project required a unified design language that allowed for subtle personalization. We worked closely with the residents to calibrate the internal storage configurations—varying from spice-heavy racks for traditional cooking to streamlined pantries for continental prep.
Impact: Project 24 proves that scale is no barrier to sophistication. The triple-kitchen installation has turned standard utility zones into the building’s primary design features. By standardizing the high-end finishes across all three units, we achieved a sense of architectural cohesion, where the act of meal preparation is elevated to a choreographed performance of efficiency and style.
Signature Moment: The "Vanishing Line" — when viewed from the living area, the kitchen’s edge-to-edge cabinetry and hidden appliances create the illusion of a solid architectural wall rather than a functional room, allowing the kitchen to disappear into the home’s minimalist decor.
